DESCRIPTION:

This delicious Mexican Chocolate Hummus, combines the creaminess of chickpeas with the rich flavors of cacao and spices, making it a unique and delicious dip anytime with fresh fruit, vegetables or crackers.

INGREDIENTS:

2-15oz. can salt-free garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained
1/4 cup tahini
1/2 cup cacao powder or carob powder
1/3 cup date syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
1/2 cup soy milk, or more to reach the desired consistency
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon dark powder (it can be purchased online from local spicery)

PREPARATION:

1-Rinse and drain the chickpeas.  While rinsing the chickpeas, remove the skins.  This will result in a creamier batter.
2-Place everything except the cacao powder in a food processor fitted with an “S” blade.  Process for about a minute until a smooth batter has formed.
3-Add the cacao powder to the processor and process for another minute until everything is well combined.  Stop along the way to scrape down the sides.
4-Let the batter cool in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.  It will thicken up a bit and the chocolate flavors will continue to develop.
5-Serve with fresh fruit.
